The men’s 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on 9–11 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center in Beijing China.Japan’s Kosuke Kitajima blasted a new world record of 58.91 to defend his Olympic title in the event. Alexander Dale Oen powered home with a silver in 59.20 earning a first Olympic medal for Norway in swimming.
