The women’s 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2000 Summer Olympics took place on 17–18 September at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre in Sydney Australia.At only 16 years of age U.S. swimmer Megan Quann fulfilled her merciless prediction by knocking off South Africa’s defending Olympic champion Penny Heyns in the event.
