The Summer Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain open to thoroughbred fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run at York over a distance of 6 furlongs (1207 metres) and it is scheduled to take place each year in July.The event was established in 1996 and it was initially classed at Listed level. It was promoted to Group 3 status in 2003.The Summer Stakes is held on the opening day of York’s two-day John Smith’s Cup meeting.
