Streptomycin is an antibiotic (antimycobacterial) drug the first of a class of drugs called aminoglycosides to be discovered and it was the first cure for tuberculosis. It is derived from the actinobacterium Streptomyces griseus. Streptomycin is a bactericidal antibiotic.
