Sterparone Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield in Italy which was located approximately 10 km south-southeast of Torre Maggiore on the Foggia plain; 130 km northeast of Naples.Sterparone was a heavy strategic bomber airfield used by the 483d Bombardment Group between 22 April 1944 and 25 September 1944 flying B-17 Flying Fortresses.The airfield today has been returned to agriculture however extensive scarring of the landscape remains showing various dispersal pads and taxiways and other features.
