The 2014 South African general election will be held on 7 May 2014 to elect a new National Assembly as well as new provincial legislatures in each province. It will be the fifth election held under conditions of universal adult suffrage since the end of the apartheid era in 1994. The National Assembly consists of 400 members elected by proportional representation with a closed list approach.
