The Social Democratic Party (Hungarian: Szociáldemokrata Párt SZDP) often known as the Historical Social Democratic Party (történelmi Szociáldemokrata Párt) is a small Hungarian political party which no longer contests elections at a national level and only rarely contests elections at a local level and is widely considered to be practically defunct. It emerged following a split within the Hungarian Social Democratic Party (MSZDP) in 1989.
