Sir John Astley 2nd Baronet (1687 – 29 January 1772) was a longtime British politician.The son of Sir Richard Astley 1st Baronet and Henrietta Borlase he was baptised in Patshull in Staffordshire on 24 January 1687. Already one year later he succeeded to his father’s baronetcy. Astley was Member of Parliament (MP) for Shrewsbury from 1727 and 1734 and for Shropshire from 1734 to 1772.
