The men’s 10 metre air pistol competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics was held on August 14 at the Markópoulo Olympic Shooting Centre near Athens Greece. Mikhail Nestruyev from Russia set a new Olympic record in the qualification round of 60 shots with 591 points only two points from the world record. However the gold was not safe because Chinese veteran Wang Yifu was only one point behind with 590. The ten-shot final became a very tight duel between the two.
