The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞 Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan’s major manga awards sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers.The current award categories are: Children’s (児童向け部門 Jidō muke bumon) Boy’s (少年向け部門 Shōnen muke bumon) Girl’s (少女向け部門 Shōjo muke bumon) General (一般向け部門 Ippan muke bumon)Initially there was only one general award.
