In enzymology a shikimate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.25) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionshikimate + NADP+ 3-dehydroshikimate + NADPH + H+Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are shikimate and NADP+ whereas its 3 products are 3-dehydroshikimate NADPH and H+. This enzyme participates in phenylalanine tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis.
