In enzymology a scytalone dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.94) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionscytalone 138-trihydroxynaphthalene + H2OHence this enzyme has one substrate scytalone and two products 138-trihydroxynaphthalene and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the hydro-lyases which cleave carbon-oxygen bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is scytalone 78-hydro-lyase (138-trihydroxynaphthalene-forming).
