The Sarit Centre is a shopping mall located in the Westlands neighbourhood of Nairobi Kenya.[citation needed] Opened in 1983 it is Kenya’s first ever shopping mall whose City within a City concept of providing everything under one roof has since irrevocably changed retailing patterns and spurred shopping mall development throughout East Africa. The centre has a 300-seater cinema a 1500 sq ft (140 m2) food court and a 3000 sq ft (280 m2) expo centre capable of hosting over 50 stands.
