Sardinian (Logudorese: sardu/saldu limba sarda Campidanese: sardu/sadru lingua sarda) is a Romance language spoken on most of the island of Sardinia (Italy). It is the most conservative of the Romance languages in terms of phonology and is noted for a Paleosardinian substratum.Since 1997 the languages of Sardinia have been protected and recognised by regional and national laws.
