Samuel Lyman was a United States Representative from Massachusetts. He was born in Goshen Connecticut on January 25 1749. He attended Goshen Academy and graduated from Yale College in 1770. He taught school studied law in Litchfield Connecticut was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Hartford.He moved to Springfield Massachusetts in 1784 was elected a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and served in the Massachusetts State Senate.
