The Samsung Gear 2 is a Tizen-based smartwatch produced by Samsung Electronics. The Gear 2 is the successor to the Galaxy Gear which was based on Android. It was announced on 23 February 2014 a day before the Mobile World Congress. There is a similar mid-range counterpart model called the Gear 2 Neo. Unlike the regular Gear 2 the Neo version lacks a camera.The Gear 2 features a Infrared blaster The Gear 2 was released on April 11 2014.
