The Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature of El Salto (Latin: Praelatura Territorialis Saltensis in Mexico) (erected 10 June 1968) is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Durango.On 2 February 2012 Pope Benedict XVI appointed Father Juan Maria Huerta Muro as Bishop-elect and as Territorial Prelate-elect of the Territorial Prelature of El Salto Mexico; until now he had been serving as Minister Provincial for the Franciscan Province of the Blessed Father Junípero Serra. Muro was born on April 9 1962 in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guadalajara in Guadalajara Mexico.
