The Portuguese Catholic Diocese of Viana do Castelo (Latin: Dioecesis Vianensis Castelli) in the Norte Region has existed since 1977. It is a suffragan of the archdiocese of Braga with its see at Viana do Castelo.As of 2008 the bishop is José Augusto Martins Fernandes Pedreira who was appointed in 1997.
