The (Roman Catholic) Diocese of Miao (Dioecesis Miaoensis) in India was created on December 7 2005 by splitting it from the Diocese of Dibrugarh. It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Guwahati. Its first bishop is George Palliparampil. The Christ Light of the World church in Miao is the cathedral of the diocese. The cathedral was built and blessed in 2001.The diocese covers 4 districts of the state of Arunachal Pradesh – Tirap Changlang Lohit and Dibang Valley.
