The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of La Plata (erected 15 February 1897 as the Diocese of La Plata) is in Argentina and is a metropolitan diocese and its suffragan sees include Azul Chascomús Mar del Plata Nueve de Julio Quilmes and Zárate-Campana. It was elevated on 20 April 1934.Archbishop Héctor Rubén Aguer was appointed the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of La Plata in 2000 by Pope John Paul II.
