Rod Carter (born 29 October 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy and the Sydney Swans in the Victorian Football League (VFL). By the end of his career he was just seven games short of joining the 300 club. A defender Carter was used mostly at full-back and kicked just the one goal in his 16 seasons of football. That goal came in a game against Melbourne at the SCG in 1986.
