Royal Marines Turnchapel is a military installation operated by the Royal Marines in South Devon located 1.2 miles (1.9 km) east of Plymouth Devon and 3.6 miles (5.8 km) north east of Torpoint Cornwall England.Earlier in the year 539 Assault Squadron relocated from the Turnchapel site to a new £30 million base in Devonport Naval Base.The former Royal Marines base in Plymouth has now been declared surplus to military requirements by the MoD and has been bought by a marine leisure business.The Yacht Havens Group has announced that it has bought the freehold to the 14 acre site at Turnchapel from Defence Estates.’The business took possession of the waterfront site on the 28th March 2014 after buying it for an undisclosed sum.Read more: http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/Deal-sees-MoD-site-bought-marine-firm/story-20886520-detail/story.html
