The Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) (Spanish Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria) is a Chilean political organization and former far-left guerrilla organization founded on October 12 1965. At its height in 1973 the MIR numbered some 10000 members and associates. The group emerged from various student organizations and established a base of support among the trade unions and shantytowns of Santiago.
