Recompression is an annual gathering hosted by the Vancouver Burning Man community. It is inspired by and shares values with the Burning Man Festival in Nevada. The event endeavours to create a Temporary Autonomous Zone (TAZ). In order to distinguish itself from other post-Burning Man regional events the name was coined after one planner who would later become a Regional Representative remarked I’d rather recompress than decompress.
