RAF Saltby was a World War II airfield in Leicestershire England. The airfield is located approximately 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Melton Mowbray; about 90 miles (140 km) north-northwestof London.Opened in 1942 it was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as a transport airfield.
