The Quanzhou dialect is a Hokkien dialect which originally comes from Southern Fujian province (in Southeast China) in the area centered around the city of Quanzhou. Among the Taiwanese who migrated came from Fujian province since the 17th century onwards 44.8% were originally from Quanzhou whereas 35.1% were from Zhangzhou. The Quanzhou dialect has an intelligibility of over 90% with other dialects of Hokkien such as Amoy and Zhangzhou.
