In enzymology a pyrogallol hydroxytransferase (EC 1.97.1.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction1235-tetrahydroxybenzene + 123-trihydroxybenzene 135-trihydroxybenzene + 1235-tetrahydroxybenzeneThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 1235-tetrahydroxybenzene and 123-trihydroxybenzene (pyrogallol) whereas its two products are 135-trihydroxybenzene (phloroglucinol) and 1235-tetrahydroxybenzene.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases.
