In enzymology a pyridoxine 5′-phosphate synthase (EC 2.6.99.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate + 3-amino-2-oxopropyl phosphate pyridoxine 5′-phosphate + phosphate + 2 H2OThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate and 3-amino-2-oxopropyl phosphate whereas its 3 products are pyridoxine 5′-phosphate phosphate and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases specifically those transferring nitrogenous groups transferring other nitrogenous groups.
