In enzymology a pyridoxal phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.74) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionpyridoxal 5′-phosphate + H2O pyridoxal + phosphateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are pyridoxal 5′-phosphate and H2O whereas its two products are pyridoxal and phosphate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on phosphoric monoester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is pyridoxal-5′-phosphate phosphohydrolase.
