The pylorus (/paɪˈlɔərəs/ or /pɨˈlɔərəs/; from the Greek πυλωρός gate guard) is the region of the stomach that connects to the duodenum (the beginning of the small intestines). The adjectival form of pylorus is pyloric (/paɪˈlɔərɪk/ or /pɨˈlɔərɪk/).
