The Pumi (also Primi) people (Chinese: 普米族; pinyin: Pǔmǐzú own name: /pʰʐ.ẽmi/) are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People’s Republic of China. Ethnically related to the Tibetans in the Muli Tibetan Autonomous County and Yanyuan in Sichuan the Pumi are recognized as an official minority nationality unique to Yunnan with a population of 30000.
