It is dimly visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of +5.20. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 2.38 ± 0.39 mas it is approximately 1370 light-years (420 parsecs) distant from the Earth. This is a B-type giant star with a stellar classification of B8 III.
