Pseudopelletierine is an alkaloid derived from the bark of the pomegranate tree. It is a homolog of tropinone and can be synthesized in a manner analogous to the classical Robinson tropinone synthesis using glutaraldehyde (rather than succinaldehyde) acetonedicarboxylic acid and methylammonium chloride.
