In enzymology a propanediol dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.28) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionpropane-12-diol propanal + H2OHence this enzyme has one substrate 12-propanediol and two products propanal and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the hydro-lyases which cleave carbon-oxygen bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is propane-12-diol hydro-lyase (propanal-forming).
