Printed Matter Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit bookstore and arts space presently located at 195 Tenth Ave in Chelsea New York. Printed Matter focuses on publications made and distributed by artists. The Printed Matter Inc. shop was founded by a group of artists in 1976 as a for- profit art space in Tribeca New York after a few years of being a publisher of artist books. Lucy Lippard cites artist Seth Siegelaub’s International General as a major model for Printed Matter Inc.
