In enzymology a poly(3-hydroxyoctanoate) depolymerase (EC 3.1.1.76) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction that breaks down the polyester polyoxycarbonyl[(R)-2-pentylethylene] into smaller oligomers.This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is polyoxycarbonyl[(R)-2-pentylethylene] hydrolase.
