In enzymology a phosphoglycolate phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.18) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction2-phosphoglycolate + H2O glycolate + phosphateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 2-phosphoglycolate and H2O whereas its two products are glycolate and phosphate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on phosphoric monoester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 2-phosphoglycolate phosphohydrolase.
