In enzymology a phosphoadenylylsulfatase (EC 3.6.2.2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction3′-phosphoadenylyl sulfate + H2O adenosine 3’5′-bisphosphate + sulfateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 3′-phosphoadenylyl sulfate and H2O whereas its two products are adenosine 3’5′-bisphosphate and sulfate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on acid anhydrides in sulfonyl-containing anhydrides.
