In enzymology a phorbol-diester hydrolase (EC 3.1.1.51) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionphorbol 1213-dibutanoate + H2O phorbol 13-butanoate + butanoateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are phorbol 1213-dibutanoate and H2O whereas its two products are phorbol 13-butanoate and butanoate. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 1213-diacylphorbate 12-acylhydrolase.
