Phaenocoma is a monotypic genus of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. The name is derived from the Greek root φαίνω (to shine) and κόμη (hair) which refer to dry and shiny involucral bracts. It contains the single Fynbos species: Phaenocoma prolifera↑
