Panner disease is an osteochondrosis of the capitellum of the elbow. It causes pain and stiffness in the affected elbow and may limit extension. On radiographs the capitulum may appear irregular with areas of radioluceny. Treatment is symptomatic with a good prognosis. It is primarily seen in children between five and ten years old. The disease is named after the Danish radiologist Hans Jessen Panner.Panner’s disease is often caused by excessive throwing due to valgus stress.
