Omari Idd Kimweri (born 22 September 1982) is a Tanzanian-Australian boxer.Omari Kimweri was born in Dar es Salaam Tanzania on 22 September 1982.He is 150 cm (4′ 11) in height and fights as a light flyweight.In 2005 he competed in the Tanzania National Championships.He fought for Tanzania in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Australia weighing in at 48 kilograms (106 lb).He was described as married and a civil servant.On 20 March 2006 it was reported that Kimweri and Bangladeshi runner Mohammad Tawhidul Islam had gone missing from the Commonwealth Games village.Kimweri’s room had not been slept in and his money passport and plane ticket were gone.Later he reappeared and was allowed to stay in Australia.In January 2010 it was reported that Omari Kimweri and his teammate Karim Matumla had been granted Australian citizenship.As of November 2011 Kimweri was rated in the world’s top 15 in his weight and was said to be in line for a world title.In Australia between 20 July 2007 and 25 July 2013 he won 13 matches and lost three with no draws.
