Olympia is a painting by Édouard Manet first exhibited at the 1865 Paris Salon which shows a nude female lying on a bed being brought flowers by a female servant. The painting caused shock and astonishment because she looks at the viewer with confrontational gaze and is adorned with a number of details identifying her as a prostitute. Completed in 1863 it measures 130.5 by 190 centimetres (51 x 74.8 in).
