The Old Taiwan dollar was used from 1946 to 1949. Taiwan was at this time a province of Nationalist China. The currency was issued by the Bank of Taiwan. Inflation due the Chinese Civil War made it worthless by 1949 requiring the introduction of the New Taiwan dollar.
