Oirat (Clear script: ᡆᡕᡅᠷᠠᡑ ᡘᡄᠯᡄᠨ Oyirad kelen; Kalmyk: Өөрд Öörd; Khalkha-Mongolian: Ойрад Oirad) belongs to the group of Mongolic languages. Scholars differ as to whether they regard Oirat as a distinct language or a major dialect of the Mongolian language.
