The Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) is an American animal rights nonprofit organization seeking to change the legal status of some or all nonhuman animals from that of property to that of persons with a goal of securing rights to bodily integrity and individual liberty. The NhRP works largely through litigation in what it determines to be the most appropriate common law jurisdictions as well as through public opinion campaigns.
