NN-Dimethylsphingosine also known as NN-DMS is an inhibitor of sphingosine kinase.In rats with neuropathic pain the natural metabolite NN-DMS is unregulated in the dorsal horn. Furthermore NN-DMS induces mechanical hypersensitivity when injected into rats.
