Nitropentaamminecobalt(III) chloride is a cobalt complex with the molecular formula [Co(NH3)5(NO2)]Cl2. It is typically an orange solid at standard temperature and pressure. It also has a structural isomer that has a similar yellow-orange appearance. The difference between the two is the bonding of the nitrite ligand. When the nitrogen atom bonds to the cobalt atom the nitro compound is formed. If instead an oxygen atom is coordinated to the cobalt the nitrito complex is formed.
