Niccolò Frangipane is believed by some to have been a native of Padua by others of Udine. He flourished from the year 1565 till 1597 and executed a number of church pictures but was more successful in mythological scenes particularly the legends of Bacchus. At Padua in the church of San Bartolommeo is a fine picture by him of St. Francis painted in 1588; and at Pesaro an altar-piece in San Stefano. But his most admired work is an Assumption in the church of the Conventuali at Rimini.
