Newry Mourne and Down District Council is a local authority that will be formally established on 1 April 2015. It will replace Down District Council and Newry and Mourne District Council. The first elections to the authority will be on 22 May 2014 and it will act as a shadow authority prior to the creation of the Newry Mourne and Down district on 1 April 2015.The electoral areas will be Crotlieve Downpatrick Newry Rowallane Slieve Croob Slieve Gullion and The Mournes.
